The new Nine Inch Nails album is called Year Zero, which, just from hearing the name sounds foreboding as hell, so i looked up Year Zero to find out exactly what is meant by the term. the basic answer i got was that it signifies the first year after a revolution of sorts (such as in france where the calendar was actually reset for a short time) which seems appropriate taking into seeming disorientation of ideologies in north america. However the name seems even more pertainant after reading this article in Harpers (i know its 3 years old but it's new to me) by Naomi Klein entitled "Baghdad Year Zero", which really outlines the north american private sectors reasons for supporting the war and the situation created by the US government to create a capitalist, off-shore haven for corporate business, the creation of this state could be the reason for the whole war, which is clearly just disturbing.
